  ABOUT ME Hello! My name is Kahmya McKinnon, and I am currently a sophomore majoring in nursing at East Carolina University. I decided to pursue a career in nursing because I have always had a passion for helping others and making a positive impact on people’s health. At the age of 13, I witnessed a family member who was born prematurely and seeing those dedicated nurses fight day and night to help bring back his strength and health is what inspired me to pursue a career as a neonatal nurse. This experience showed me how meaningful it is, not just for the patient but for their families as well. Some of my strongest qualities that I pursue would be the ability to collaborate and communicate with a team in order to get things done in a timely manner.
